@grouchy I can’t tell if this one has adjustable temperature. Ones built specifically for water only don’t have the ability to lower the temps to 185f, (85c), for alcohol. It’s best to use the ones with adjustable temps

Perfect answer, thanks monkey 🍻

@grouchy Would this thing work to make reverse osmosis water? I've love to knock down the background EC on the water I use.

I was looking at these also. They make one that is like $120 USD and that one has adjustable temp and shows both set temp and actual temp.

does about .4 gal/hour it says I think

There are a few of us running these distillers.  I have the Vevor with adjustable temp and it works fine for RSO

@twisted1 you got any tips tricks or your process laid out for using this distiller?

I just ordered mine today and want to make sure I got things in order before I get going Smile

Ethanol boils at 173f or 78c  so i set my distiller to 78c and run it until it slows down. at that point ill open it up and let the rest evaporate.   i have let it be and soon as it runs out of alcohol the temp spikes and it shuts it self off automatically.

i use a wet paper towel  where the tube from the distiller goes into the collection container to seal it off and prevent alcohol from escaping.

its pretty simple to do.

im sure you know to soak the bud in everclear or other high proof alcohol  i believe anything above 150 proof will work but the higher the better (less water)

@twisted1 yes sir gonna get grain alcohol.

only part I’m not sure of is your paper towel thing 🤔

where the outlet from the distiller enter the collection container.  i use a wet paper towel to wrap around the connection. it prevents the alcohol vapor from escaping. when you get it you should see what im talking about if not let me know ill get a pic with mine

@twisted1 I'm sure you are talking about the spout.. but blocking it is just going to gather alcohol in the paper towel isn't it? are you saying that a little vapor escapes also and you don't want to loose that also?

twisted1 twisted1 February 1, 2024 5:34 pm

yeah there is a tubein the spout that directs the flow in to the container im just sealing around the hose on top of the hole it goes into.   yeah a small amount could escape  and id prefer it in the collection container  it also helps prevent the unwanted flammable vapors from creating a possible hazard.  i still use mine outside.

@twisted1 so question for ya. I just fired mine up and ran a 1.75 batch through. Problem is it wasn’t enough left in the bottom to finish cause the bottom isn’t flat 🤔 are you doing anything to make a flat bottom like using a different dish or something? Or are you only doing full batches.

I had 75g of trim and 1.75l of alcohol and I am now double boiling it to finish because it still had a bunch of alcohol. Got about 11g out of the distiller but that was basically in the bottom groove. Probably by time I’m done it will be like 5g after the boil.
also when you double boil the rest of the alcohol off, do I boil it basically till the air bubbles stop?

TIA! 😎

Sorry just seen this. if there is still alcohol in it then you can boil the rest off. ( i have an old coffee pot and use the warmer on it until bubbles stop) I dilute mine with coconut oil 3 parts coconut oil and 1 part RSO so i can add it to the capsules i have. this is the point ill put it on the burner in a small glass condiment bowl.   if i dont dilute it i get too high off the dose. lol

@twisted1 no problem man.. yeah this sounds like a good idea.. I have a warmer somewhere.. however I just put it in a jar and put it in boiling water..

@pirate33 I've seen those too, but if I'm gonna spend that money, I'm probably gonna buy the extractcraft source turbo 🤔
