Just wondering if anyone is fiddling around with light configurations.
I've got 2 vivosun VS1000's running the new Samsung 301H diodes and I try to set them up to replicate the sun's natural progression at a 45°angle and then adjust it as needed through the grow cycle. Ideally around 25° at start of flower to directly down by end of flower.
I haven't done a run with a standard configuration straight down as yet to personally compare the results but I sent a mate who is running the same lights an NL auto and mine appears to be vegging harder in the low areas compared to his. But there are a few more variables between our grows to say it was definitely the light angle that contributed to the gains.
Wondering if any of you guys who've grown at a standard configuration are willing to have a crack at a different configuration to see if I'm onto something here or just wasting photons.
Pics a little rough due to me not being home right now to get more detailed pics

I know a few have tried this method and I can understand the theory behind it but personally I don't configure them on an angle. Most grow lights are designed to give the most even spread across a footprint, most fall off ppfd towards the edges of the lamps. I think it would come down to your personal preference and growing style, if you scrog you are essentially keeping the light even across the canopy the entire grow by training rather than directing light panels. If you are trying to mimic the seasonal change i think that photoperiods would benefit from that more so than an auto would. I would also think the tops would follow the light as you moved, bending and twisting towards the source like sunflowers do through the day.
I know a few on here have experimented with dimming the lights to simulate cloudy days etc and i know i have seen someone configuring their lights in a v shape like you have however not entirely sure if they found it to be beneficial or more of a PITA being they are constantly messing with them. Im sure one of the members here has tried this and has some more solid data in regards to efficacy. If not it may be an opportunity to go all mad scientist and see what difference it makes. Good Luck.
I feel like a, like a slice of butter... melting on top of a big-ol' pile of flapjacks... yeah.
From a different angle. Lights currently set at around 25° here for early flower and as the plant grows out I'll just bring the outside edges of the lights up to level. As it currently sits the ppfd footprint tapers inwards so most of the photons are hitting the plant instead of the closet floor where the outer edge is concerned.
