@hart

I recently tried my own mix but burnt most of most babies... Didn't let the mix 'cook' but probably had too much of something. I also had some biochar which I've never used before.  I did get one plant finished in a 20L / 5gallon fabric pot with water only.

what size container do you use for flowering bro?

Time to pop some more beans 😗

Heyo @chillbert , Haven't tried Biochar but I'm going to. This summer I grew autos in 7 gallon fabric and used compost tea made from worm castings and molasses with no probs. This fall indoor I added Neem meal because of it's supposed bug fighting abilities. I was worried about the Neem burning the young'uns but one way to find out is to do it.

 Did the 24 hr seed soak in water, then directly into soil for 4 varieties. All of them popped out but 1  died so I started another. This time I mixed my soil 50/50 with peat thinking this variety was more sensitive than the others. It grew, so this may or may not been the problem of being too rich for the one but next time to be safe I'll mix up a special seedling mix. The price of these seeds we can't afford to just chuck em out. My current grow I'm trying to grow 4 plants in 30 gallon fiber. I let my soil work for 3 weeks turning every few days before using.

  Fist Bump

@hart thanks bud

i will be trying again with one pot alongside my others (organic-synthetic usual style) this time I'll let my soil mix cook and test run with some a spare clone first. As I'm growing in my loft it's tricky with large pots of soil but I've been increasing pot size gradually over my last few grows to see how far the feed lasts and learning how pot size affects my watering / feeding regime.

I also grow my own vegetables oitdoors where I practise no-till / feed the soil not the plants system. My veg have won (local) prizes even though I've only been growing most veg a couple years. I'd like to get to a point where I have closed loop systems in both areas of my farming, sourcing local where not producing my own. I use my own vermicompost and am tying to perfect this as best I can.

I did use neem meal when I burnt my plants and am using it unsuccessfully currently to control a few soil gnats.

i think I can get most things in your recipe so will let you know when I give it a go

thanks again dude 👍

Hi @chillbert TempleGrower has a recipe here also it you want to check it out ... https://percysgrowroom.com/organic-super-soil-recipe/

I doubt you'll find zebra mussel meal cause it's home made, I used it to substitute shrimp meal figured they would be close but who knows, kinda experimenting. The egg shells are run through a coffee grinder to make it fine and bad for the lungs, lol. I think neem meal comes with gnats 😆

Gardening is awesome, good for the soul and health.

Ya, I gotta get on that vermicomposting. Got some stinging nettle, comfrey tea working in the basement. I noticed after the fact that the comfrey was loaded with aphids under it's leaves and now I'm paranoid to use it.

Heyo @mossbeardmitch 😎

Zebra muscle meal lol! Never heard of that cool stuff!

Our lake is polluted with these bastages so why not capitalize, and when we pull the floating dock out for the winter the plastic pontoons are covered with them. I scrape them off, let em die and dry, then grind. If this works out I'm going into full scale production on Amazon 🤣 . I tried researching these as fertilizer, not much out there.

Yeah one cut open my hand as a kid they are nasty things! Still have the scar haha

I thought you found some to buy but even better you created it, brilliant use for them if it pans out well! You could easily launch a buisness with just the amount in lake Ontario haha
