Off Topic How much

I use propane for heating and I've been making improvement to my home so it's more energy efficient. The price of propane has gone up a lot, and we certainly need to make changes for the environment to combat the global warming to. So with these changes I've been using less gas each year, but starting 3 years ago I got a bill from the gas company right after I'd just paid them $1200, wtf? I order gas as needed through-out the year and to fill the tank is about that much, it's a one time payment so as far as I could see I was all paid up and I didn't owe them shit.

  Then I got another bill with a later fee on it so I called the company that I've been doing busy with for 18 years +, and everything has been out-sourced, my local office is closed and the person I'm speaking to is no longer even located in my country let alone my state or county and is having trouble with The King's English.

  He can not tell what the charge is but will send it to accounting and they will review it and respond to me by E-mail in 2 weeks if they will dismiss the charge or not, more late fees incur. I paid the amount to stop the madness and have been paying it every year since. 

  It turns out since I got in bed with the gas company I'm obligated to buy a set amount of gas each year (I wasn't aware of such a thing) but they decided to start enforcing this so they don't lose their profits. Improvements are counterproductive.  

Are you tied in for long term ? Is there a viable alternative?

Not sure about man made climate change to be honest 🤔 

@toploader, I can purchase my own tank, then have theirs removed, that would get me out from under them but there obviously cost there. I could change over to electric, that is a choice. Go solar with wood heat/gas heat completely off the grid. The last one is the plan but I will still need to purchase my own tank. My neighbor has his own tank so he's able to buy from independent gas haulers and pays $1+ gallon less than I do through the gas company, 700 gallons a season or more. Just the facts. lol

Here here @Mix I told my missus to put another layer on or two, I can't keep affording this shit, I love the extras charges they put on if you don't pay in time, some people are really struggling. They know they can't pay what they owe so when they see more money put on, I understand why they just crumple the letter up. I mean I'd be the same, can't pay that right now... (a few days later) oh gotta pay more? well I can't pay the first bill so keep piling it on mofos, keep adding to my bill but I doubt you'll see any of it until you send the bailiffs round or me to court, then I'll be even poorer cuz Ive lost everything, cheers helpful government!!
