Receycling of a Carbon Filter
Step 1 - remove the outer air filter
Step 2 - open the filter - easy if there are screws, if not you need a metal drill and metal screws
Step 3 - wash the coal with hot water until theres no more oil or bubbles visible
Step 4 - remove the water
Step 5 - dry the coal at 180°C with airation - a wooden stick that keeps the oven a bit open helps
! leave a window open coal gas is explosive if it can concentrate !
Step 6 - refill your filter and close it with the screws - put the white filter around - done

It does - the important point is the drying at 180°C in the oven.

Nice work james...👍
Just a few questions mate...
▪︎Do you replace any percentage of the pellets with fresh ones at all?
▪︎How long do you heat them at 180° for?
▪︎ Do you spread the pellets over a couple of trays or keep them on one, and stir them periodically?
▪︎How long do they normally last before you have to regenerate again (difficult question I know)?
And
▪︎Have you thought about eventually replacing the pellets with granules, as they will last longer and do a better job with the smell than pellets?
Thanks mate.....😁
Prior Planning And Preparation Prevents Piss Poor Performance
Well, we'll just see about that...😁
Thanks @james , good info as i have a couple old ones setting around. I was told to switch the ends, always seemed to get a LITTLE extra usage out of them.

Do you replace any percentage of the pellets with fresh ones at all?
No I did not was not easy to get them all back in.
How long do you heat them at 180° for?
It took about 2 hours.
Do you spread the pellets over a couple of trays or keep them on one, and stir them periodically?
I have done it with 1 tray - usually you need to flush the Pellets 3 times.
I did not stir them I guess 180°c ensures they get steamed.
How long do they normally last before you have to regenerate again (difficult question I know)?
As it is reactivated coal I think I can do 3 runs before I wash them again. 4 runs maybe possible but I do not want to risk.
Have you thought about eventually replacing the pellets with granules, as they will last longer and do a better job with the smell than pellets?
No I did not - but in fact it should be easier.

@james Thanks, I've been researching this.
Is there a liner that goes inside between the pellets and the metal as a dust filter?
Have you seen where the carbon is soaked in water and is skimmed with a towel (impurities float) and then decanted, several times, then dried?
From what I've found the carbon can only be cleaned 3 times or so maybe. ??
Replacement pellets are available buyactivatedcharcoal.com.
I guess you would have to open up the filter and see what size and how much you need. I think they sell it by the gallon, will have to check price.
IMO, I will get replacement charcoal and place in my inventory. Then I will try and clean my charcoal and if it doesn't work or it does, eventually I will need new.

Is there a liner that goes inside between the pellets and the metal as a dust filter?
No the pellets are the only thing inside.
