Hellooooo everyone! alright alright alright so im going to be starting my first grow soon. I will just be popping a couple beans of some BC God Bud. I will be growing them in 3 gal fabric pots. In a 3x3 tent with a 4inch filter and fan. I have got Fox Farm Ocean Forest and Happy Frog. I was thinking of having the happy frog on bottom and then the ocean forest on top as I've heard its great for seedlings. Now with my germination, I am going to try with the paper towel method, but here is where i have some questions.

1. After my beans pop and they are ready to be put into soil, when do i start giving them light? I have read to not give them light until they pop through the soil, but also to give them light just make sure its 24'' away. If anyone could help with that i would be greatly appreciated.

2. ELECTRICAL!!! okay so for my tent I have a surge protector on the outside but my question is, How or What is the best way to get the cords from inside the tent, to the outside, without compromising the integrity of the tent? I was thinking of feeding them through the duct vent hole, but was wondering what the experts had in mind.

3. Do i need to wash my fabric grow pots? they smell new, like chemicals, so i was going to wash them, but didn't want to use anything that would end up hurting my plants. any suggestions for washing new fabric pots?

I really appreciate the help and will be posting pictures as soon as i can!

Hey mate welcome to Percy's an congratulations on deciding to give it a go. I'm imcoming to the end of my first grow an I would've never made it this far if i didn't have the help from this community awesome place, as for you questions i can give you what advice ive learnt so far. For you lights i would start giving them there light schedule as soon as the show and have the pretty close dipended on the type of light i use dual spec hps an i try stay about 2ft. As for the fabric pots i thought the same with the chemicals smell when they arrived so i soaked mine in ph 5.8 water for a few hours just to be safe but i think i just over thought it I'm sure they would be fine from new. As for cables definitely your correct just run them out the ducting wholes an try to close them up to block out light as best you can. Again welcome bro ?

awesome advice my man! thank you so much! Ill be running a MarsProII LED for my light. Did you put a plastic cup over it at all to give it more humidity or did you just let it fly as is?

No problem man. I didn't need to use cups because my humidity is quite high where i live anyway and as a little boost i have a cheap humidifier that i used for the first few week

yeah I think ima have to get a small humidifier because where im at its pretty dry. Im really glad Im not the only one thinking this stuff! So for the seeds, you would give light as soon as they pop from soil, or as soon as i put them in the soil

Keep your leds at least 10-18” above plants. I found led light to be too intense for seedlings. T5 fluorescent much better to start with if you can get one, plus with the right dome the t5 will sit right on nano dome. Use a dome, humidity is much needed for little guys.
another thing to watch is heat, don’t let em get cool, invest in small heat mat after they sprout.
I wouldn’t bother mixing the ocean forest with happy frog just start with ocean forest and save happy frog for when you re pot. 3 gal is too big for seeds too so try going to a solo cup after they sprouted. Than possibly a 1 gal than 3, u could go straight to 3 but you need to watch ur watering.
Happy Growing!!!

Give them light as soon as soon as you bury the stem. Make sure you have enough amps for your light too

You're...you're growing Godbud..? NICE. Must be Canadian then...? Godbud is a legend in BC... so many amazing crosses from her, but almost unheard of outside western Canada I've found.

Yeah, all good advice there from everyone. I'm gonna go ahead and repeat most of it now... ?

I have get them under as soon as I plant them in the soil. The light helps to orient the little seedling to grow upwards (as well as gravity), as well as keep the soil warmer. Like Fuken said, don't let your little ladies get too cold. Damping off can take hold, and they just generally prefer it to be warmer (25-28 degrees C), especially when they're small. For distance, what Mars II are you running? I have both the 900 and the 1600 and they are fucking BRIGHT. If you use that, at least 24" away I would say.. once they're established, can bring it down to 15-18". I had mine about 10" from a top cola and got some intense bleaching of the top 2-3cm of bud so, watch that.

Yeah, Scottish has it... basically feed em through any holes you can, and then snug up the pull cords to close off the holes. I sometime use a bit of tape to cover any remaining gaps. Some people will run an extension cord in the tent and have the power bar hanging inside to minimize the length of cabling they need, but I don't recommend, as I think it just leaves a lot of opportunity for an accident. But yeah, like Small said too, make sure you don't exceed your amperage limit on your circuit.

I didn't bother washing mine when I got them (I have the 3 gallon Vivosun ones from Amazon), but, I'm sure a good rinse wouldn't hurt anything. I think 3 gallon (12L) is a good size though for a 3-3.5 month grow too. Perect amount of room for it to not get root-bound.

Hope this helps, and definitely lookin' forward to seeing your setup and gear though! Still stoked AF that you're running GodBud.. I have some Blue Sapphire here now which is GodBud x Blue Hawaiian and man, those genetics are fire as fuck.

I am not canadian, no. I got the beans on an auction and was lucky enough to win them. I still am unsure if i will be popping these exact beans or i might try something else. I will let everyone know when i decide. I have a lot of different packs that are pretty rare crosses, but i don't think i want to start my first grow with those beans haha. but i do want to try the GodBud. Im running the 900 MarsII so yeah i was thinking of 24" for the seedlings. Yeah when i first turned on the light i was fuckin blinded lol. I really appreciate the advice man! ill keep y'all in the loop.

Im trying to get better at taking photos, but so far the only only that showed a taproot was 1 out of the 4 beans. Im keeping positive though and will hope for the best with the other three. This lil bean is the black rose x salmon creek

So the one little taproot that i had going, finally popped. It looks yellow and doesn't seem too happy as of right now. I put him in the tent and am running a small humidifier cause where im at its a little too dry. So i have my temp at 75 and humidity at 70%. I just wanna make sure im doing everything right. Hopefully these are normal and im just being super paranoid lol. Much love everyone and Happy Freaking New Year!!!

Looks great! They can be a little bit yellow for the first bit after they pop out of the soil, but I think that's due to the lack of light.. as soon as it emerges the chlorophyll starts flowing so, she should green up pretty quick. If it doesn't, then hmmm. And seedlings like it warm so, 75 should be fine. And that's a good humidity to start with as well.. After she grows a bit, maybe 2ish weeks, then you can try to lower it to around 55% for vegging.
