Hi everyone,I know i must sound completely neurotic but HELP ,I have 9 auto's ( 3 tangerine dream,3 bubble gum,3 critical purple. After they germinated I planted them in small seed starter pods ( coconut coir) that was Saturday. 2 have poked their heads thru already ( the tangerine dream ones ) all the others haven't I was wondering if I should plant them in their forever 5 gal. fabric pots & I'll take the outer wrap stuff off b4 I plant them ( someone told me that would be a better idea than planting them w/ the outer stuff on those pods) but I'm a little wary cause I am using super soil ( Maine of Coast /Stonington blend ) I've heard that could burn or shock the little seedlings ,putting them directly into super soil ?? one of them has one 1 set of new leaves besides the cotyledons leaves ,the other isn't ready yet it has just poked out not even the cotyledrons are popped out n showing ABOVE the ground. so,I guess my question is will putting these newbies into that coast of maine super soil now, hurt them ? & how long should i wait b4 planting the ones that haven't poked out yet ? since its been 5 days tomorrow? guess i'm getting antsy n nervous .
@pc420 hi mate
just be patient for now is my advice.. keep the environment right for germination.. high humidity and temps low 20's
putting them in another soil wont make them germinate faster imo
some seeds have more vigor, some dont
when u say they germinated im guessing u did paper towel technique or similar.. after this you planted them into the coir.. this may have damaged some of the taproots in the process or they may have not taken well to this transplant is my guess..
i would be soaking some other replacements as theyre autos and some already havent got off to the flying start they need
you can also cull any weaker plants if u end up with too many
good luck hope the rest emerge !
Time to pop some more beans 😗
@pc420 Hey mate, How long has it been since you put them in the coir pods? it can take a while for some seeds to pop their little heads out, I have had seeds go in the coco and take a day to come up, others I've had take 5 days. Each strain is different and every seed is different they can be from the same mother plant and still pop days apart, that's just nature. I don't start stressing until day 7. I would wait a few days before you do anything, they are still young, let them open up a set of leaves and then look to transplant, if you transplant now you risk damaging them. Just keep them happy for a few days then transplant those that have come up.
I feel like a, like a slice of butter... melting on top of a big-ol' pile of flapjacks... yeah.
@chillbert yeah,guess i'm over stressing bout it ,I'm going to buy more n after germination I'll put them in the soil directly no more coconut coir seed starter pods.And yes I used the paper towel method in 2 plates , dark , 75 - 80 degrees. all but 1 popped & gave me taproot's of at least 3/4 th inch. what's your opinion about putting them directly into the super soil though after germ.?? cause I really like how easy n how big the plants get w/ that soil I really do not want to go back to mixing nuit's.
@bubblehok Hi, I put them all in on sat. morning so tomorrow will be 5 days, 2 of the tangerine dream auto's popped out of the coconut coir pods 1st . Another seed looks like it died it shriveled up w/ the seed shell still on it. so I'm sure that one is a goner and the rest are still underneath the coir pod w/ very loose coir stuff on top of it.
@pc420 Welcome to percys. I germinate in Jiffy pods. I wait until the roots start growing out of the bottom of the pods then place them in my soil. If you think the soil maybe a little hot for them you can remove a little of the super soil from the area you will be placing the pod into and put some coco coir or a seed starter mix in that spot and then plant into that giving them time to grow into the hotter soil.
Sativa to change the things I can, Indica to accept the things I can’t.
@twisted1 thank you that sounds good I'm going to try that. My main concern was putting the fragile/new seedlings into the hot soil. tomorrow will be 6 days since I put them into the coir pods,1 has one set of leaves ( besides the cotyledons ) the other seed just has the tippy top of it is showing thru the coir,& all the other seeds I put in the coir pods haven't come thru yet ( side note the 2 seeds that sprouted are tangerine dream ) I posted a few pic's to show how they look .
hey i'm trying to get the hang of the forum n posting pic's n such just got a new laptop n I can't figure out how to access my photo's on it yet thought I posted some pic's to you but don't know where they went ???? oh well
.thank's for your input,I appreciate all the help & advice you guy's are giving
@chillbert thnx!
