Hi everyone I've been growing in coco in 8 ltr pots for about 5 years and I am thinking of giving soil a go I currently am growing 2 clones in a metre tent under a 315 cmh and ish 150 br eclipse combo I'm not looking at super soils more your canna terra bio bizz type what I'm looking to do is only water etc every 3 days ish maybe with a sea weed type feed I'm not after big yields more the best quality I can get any suggestions on soil feeds and pot sizing etc would be great
@wrh if using light soils you will need more than seaweed feed.. an organic or synthetic range of npk still needed (like grow and bloom biobizz or other) unless youre going full natural farming techniques?
what i would recommend if switch to soil is go larger pots for sure..as big as you feel comfortable with... otherwise you are basically doing the same as coco but with an inferior substrate for salt based feeding imo.. small pots, soil and salts requires accurate feeding.. soil doesnt flush so easy as coco
the best for quality imo is preloaded organic supersoils, using homemade compost / vermicompost
a good job either style can produce exceptional results using bottled feeds (salts) or super soils.
after coco it may take a couple runs before you are happy with things adjusting to soil so dont be put off straight away
good luck whichever way you choose

@billy420bonds cheers Billy have you got a bio bizz diary on here with feed regimes etc I know every grow and growroom is different but even a little heads up helps
@chillbert thanks mate I'm not sure about super soils but no decisions have been made yet lol I would like to be a little less hands on if you know what I mean I get up early for work and half hour playing in my tent every morning is too much every day

it really depends on your budget for what nutes to get in what sizes etc. your best bet would be to decide on the soil, then start a diary to get step by step advice. then decide upon what you need or can afford etc. then you can get advice from various people depending on what your doing. no need to buy everything in one go. unless you have larger discount codes from one store. i am quiet new to soil myself. and am enjoying the ride.

@wrh you can't get any more less work the super soil? You only need to water it no nutes required where biobizz your have feed it first few weeks
I fucking love ecothrive.

Here is my honest opinion on this....... Stay in coco lmao
I have not noticed much difference in the quality of my weed since going organic. Thats in sohum, in eco thrive soil, and in re amended soil too.
What I have noticed is, its harder to keep plants properly feed. As you pretty much has to wait for a deficiency to show, then figure out what it is, and treat accordingly.
It is also much less hand on than coco, and that something i miss the most. I spend about ten mins every 2 days with my plants........its fucking lame. I would spend double that every day when I was growing i coco.
I find it is much easier to keep the plants healthy and happy in coco. I find it is more fun to grow in coco.
My next grow will be in coco..... ill come back to soil when it is legal and I can grow them outside, but I think, indoors, coco is the way to go, especially if you already grow in coco lol.
I find people who start in sol, love soil, peole who start in hydro love hydro. Play around, experiment, and try different mediums. But do it on a spare grow, in a spare tnet, don't do it with your main grow
I get up early for work and half hour playing in my tent every morning is too much every day
In this case then, super soil woud be a good way for you to go mate, you barely have to do anything
Water them every couple of days.......be done in about 12 weeks lol Easy as fuck..... until deficiencies begin lol But that doesn't happen until late into the grow
@macky I do have a 75x75 Wilma that will go in the tent I've only used it once do you think I should try a grow with coco and that. if so have you any guides or diary's with a Wilma and coco as I havnt got much of a stash at the moment and I would need a minimum of 8 zips a cycle which is a doddle hand watering
decide on your objectives / aim .. then decide which system / medium
wilma for yield or coco and more to do timewise
super soil for easy life and high quality
my yields dont suffer in soil but i know i could increase them in coco / hydro
i dont know that i can increase my quality... though some strains imo prefer coco & salts.. some prefer soil, more than not. again imo
i dont get nutrient deficiences late on if i use big enough pots and mulch/ use ecothrive at the correct
people always get some issues when they switch to new styles.. dont let this put you off but learn from peoples mistakes and successes and the wealth of info here
You need to decide what YOU want first and foremost.. you said at start you done alot of coco wanna try soil.. can i ask why? i think you mentioned quality.. you wont know til you try.. like Macky said try all mediums and styles.. i think you sound ready for a change for your own learning and development, but this always comes at a cost as its a new learning curve,,
full respect to Macky for giving it a go and deciding not for him just now.. he learnt a lot and will be better for it whichebver styes he uses in future.
lots here at percys to help whichever direction you wanna grow 😉

Thats it mate, you have to decide what works best for you. Everyone does tier thing different. Give soil a go, it might work well for you. After a couple of grows, if it dont work out, go back to coco. Just have fun and enjoy growing whilst youre doing it and youre doing it right
@chillbert thanks for the reply chilbert there's a lot there to think on. I'm not worried about breaking records just that I have enough I'd like to be able to have a little more relaxed grow style. with the coco I have to water every 24 hrs even in bigger pots it happens I'd like to be able to water every 3 days ish so I'm not rushing when I see my plants I will still tend them every 24 hrs but a bit more chilled that's why I thought of soil I'm not against super soil and you are right I am due a new grow style thanks again chilbert for your help
Ps this bubble gum plant was in a 17 litre fabric pot and it still needed watering every 24 hours
for reference
i water typically every other day @10% volume of the pot rate.. so in my 25 - 30L pots of soil typically about 3L.
I could choose to water every day at half that rate .. 5%ish or 1-1.5L
Or i could water every 3 days about 4L ..
these rates are approx and vary according to size/ stage of plant growth / individual plant requirements (some plants drink more than others!)
you get the idea.. soil is most flexible style of grow
over/under watering is the most common issue in soil .. use the 5-10% rule and you'll never be far out (5 for smaller 10 for bigger plants)
to increase your potential length of time away increase pot size further or use an auto watering system like blu mat or similar

@chillbert that's brilliant info mate thanks I have a few 30 ltr plastic pots in the garden my wife uses them for dahlias. Which soil do you use I'll see if it's available near me. I've still not made my mind up but I do think it can only be a good thing to try something new
