Topping Auto's ?

@woodi2 hey mate I’m no expert but I’ve just topped my auto and it doesn’t seem to affected it but this is only my second every grow so I don’t have a lot of experience but I’ve done it with mine and I know a few others here have also topped there’s 

@woodi2 they will be fine buddy  top mine a few times depending on canopy , have a look at the grow guides it will explain better than i ever could 

I top my autos at least twice and most of the time 3 times to accomplish mainline training. Because they are autoflower I set the deadline for topping at 25 days. This way I’m sure not to clip off a plant that’s ready for flower. Because I have to do everything so quickly I sometimes literally use tweezers for the job because I’m only pulling off the terminal bud.

Thanks everyone. I thought as much by the looks of things, but a little reassurance helps. Will give it a whirl. I drop Glueberry from DP into water today I'll wait and see what's crackin'. I know I have to act fast ,thanks monkeydo, and if they don't sprout like a horse on race day, then that lessen my chances (maybe) for multiple toppings, is that right? What Woolie said. @woodi2 not a massively experienced grower but yeah you just gotta play it by ear. Popped 4 new autos about 2-3 weeks back and only two have been topped, left the other 2 to do their thing because they’re going a bit slower so will just train them different.

Think what monkey said about setting a deadline of about 3 weeks then no more topping is pretty bang on for autos 

Greentomato has it right, you just need to read the plants. As you gain more experience you grow style will develop and results tend to get a bit better. If the autos are starting to stretch its time to stop pruning.

I hear ya. I've seen unstoppable grow and I've seen slooow skinny grow. So work with what you got. I've got my timelines as far as all topping by/before flower (4-5 wk), and LST til about 2 weeks after first signs of sex. a bit before stretch. Deflorate on day 22 and 45ish of flower. That's the plan and everyone knows how plans go. Any thought's always welcome, thanks.

Hi , I top my autos at least once. On my current grow I topped twice to make a manifold (budget mainline one might call it) and I would say that was a success , I also use a scrog to further bend the lady to my will... more or less successfully, I am still learning, but it's working ok. I wait until the plant has about 6 nodes before I top. That way it has established enough roots to be able to handle the topping.

I must say that topping and especially manifolding has thought me a lot about more about what is happening with the plant, how it is structured and things like that

Anyways, I'm all for topping autos.. oh by the way I grow in coco, with high frequency fertigation. I think manifolding an auto might be a bit more tricky to do in soil as it tends to grow slower.

@woodi2 hi man, Macky gave me the confidence to top all my autos, monkey showed me u can multiple top them also, both these guys have showed me the way with topping 😉 I have 10 autos the now that have been topped at least one time, no issues at all but I would advise that the plant has to be healthy and not showing pistols when u do it, hopefully this gives u the confidence to chop chop chop😁
