Question Light failure photoperiods

I’ve never grown photoperiods before but started some seedlings.

Had them on 24hrs with the light at 25% intensity.

Recently switched it to 18 on/6 off, my timer failed at the last lights off so lights have been off for about 30hrs or so.

Will this have an impact on the seedlings?

Light is now switched back to normal on a new timer, thanks everyone.

@greentomato Count yourself lucky mate...last cheap timer I saw fail melted and set fire to the house it was in...

Get a decent quality timer and resume knowing you are able to 😉

@greentomato if these weren’t sexually mature plants they won’t be affected at all. If it did start triggering flower they will revert to Veg by themselves if you stay at 18/6. No worries brother, you are good

this is something I think about probably more than I should! Lucky for me it was less if an electrical fault and just a mechanical one.

@monkeydo I should probably read up on photoperiods And learn how they grow as I’m now seeing this is a real basic question.

thanks for the knowledge

Not trying to worry anyone...its just you get what you pay for and cheap timers ALWAYS have 'contacts' made of low grade pitted brass or bad connections on the plug side becasue of the same shitty brass. This is enough to cause arcing alone but add to that high power lighting and its a recipie for disaster...timers heat up to a point of welding contacts together and this is where fire starts

Not so much a worry these days with LED as the inrush currents are not the same but some people still use HPS and I've seen 3 x 1000w on a £2 mechanical timer...the guy had a fan on it to keep it cool FFS

smoke alarm. Feel electrical cords and other devices. A little warm is ok, but nothing hot.

Lumii timers made for this purpose...the cheapos aren't

I have 4 13A digital timers with 100A relay contacts...so each one will easily cope with a full growroom...ones on the flower, 1 on the veg and currently 2 spares
