In this guide, we’re going to talk about where to buy cannabis seeds online. If you have already looked around the internet, you would have seen there are a lot of places where you can buy cannabis seeds. But which ones are good? Who has the best prices, who has the best genetics?
The idea of this article is to give you some ideas of where to shop for your cannabis seeds. The places we recommend in this article are used every day by members of our cannabis growing forum. These companies are trusted, reliable, and respected among the community. We highly recommend these guys!
But before we move on to which seed banks to use, we should cover some things to consider before you buy your seeds.
Things to Consider Before You Buy Cannabis Seeds
Cannabis seeds can be very expensive! From the time of ordering them, receiving them, and germinating them, a lot can happen. To ensure a smooth process so you don’t waste time and money, you should consider:
Legality
Are seeds legal in your country? In most places, cannabis seeds are legal to possess. Even in countries where growing cannabis is illegal, you can still possess cannabis seeds as souvenirs, under the understanding you do not germinate them.
Shipping
Shipping should be quick. If it is possible, order seeds close to home so you can get them shipped in a few days at maximum. Next day delivery is best but not always an option. So, to prevent damage to your seeds, try to get quick shipping.
Discretion
Discretion is a big issue for some growers. You do not want the delivery person knowing you’re buying cannabis seeds, especially if you are in a country that still has prohibition. Most seed banks will have discreet shipping. But it is always good to check with them first.
Genetics
Do you need photoperiod seeds, or autoflowering? Feminized or Regular? It is a good idea to know what seeds you need before shopping. If you don’t know what these terms are, then you should check out this guide before buying your seeds: Different Types of Cannabis Seeds
So now you have some idea of how shipping works, and what type of seed you need to buy, let’s talk about where you should buy these seeds from!

I’ve had a great experience with both Herbie’s and Quebec Cannabis Seeds online. For Canadians, these are great options. Always freebies and great quality.
I’ve always had a great experience with The Vault – but recently I’ve been buying direct from Mephisto to take advantage of Meph maths.
I have had great luck with Mephisto Genetics. They also send freebies with every order wich is nice! If you are looking to grow some dank auto’s give them a try you will not be disappointed!
Thank you for the informative post Macky
Oh, and ive used the vault of course, great seeds.
Also great supporter of Percys.
I have bought my “Collectables" from Seedsman, Barney’s Farm and Ali Bongos from this list. All good. Must try Mephisto as @macky is always banging on about how good they are and I grow autos… I mean collect autos.
Living in Australia, I was a little hesitant to buy any seeds online. After reading through some of the other threads, I decided to give Ali Bongos a go.
Not only did I get 10% off at checkout, they also threw in a bonus seed, sent it in a nice little tin with an Ali Bongos tote bag.
It was an excellent first experience. 😊
Quality genetics are one of the most important factors in my garden. This is a great guide to point folks in the right direction.
@curmudgeon It’s all about them craft beans man! 🤟😎
@morgasmo I’ve found this to be true for myself as well as I progress further into this medical hobby. I’ve got a ton of “Mainstream Seed Bank" seeds that I have, to be honest, put into storage because there are so many other, better seeds available through the “old-school" way of getting seeds…getting to know someone!
I used to get beans from Seedsman and Gowerschoice, when I was a beginner. Seedsman was great but really slow pre-2018, now that they have expanded to the USA and the farm bill is still in good shape (for now), they are speedier but are having issues with data breaches. Lately I’ve been sourcing gear direct from breeders on IG and have fallen in love with North Atlantic Seed Co. ordering from Mephisto & Great Lakes Genetics. I also find older packs and off the wall breeding packs on Strainly. All normally come with extras/freebies.
So many options!!! Before I started listing to the show I could only name one seed bank. I had no idea how many options we have!! Royal queen has been good to us.
@firetop95 You should give them a look…I was happy with they sent me, I’m smokin it now!
@curmudgeon I was going to mention a few others to but put down the ones that came to mind first 👍🏻barnies are good never been to zamnesia Dutch passion are also another good one
I’ve used Strainly a couple of times,
Got some excellent beans from Colorado!
Laz
@firetop95 Zamnesia, Barney’s, and Dutch Pride all have excellent stealth shipping from my experience. Zamnesia has a US site but is originally out of the Netherlands so they get that need as well. They have their original EU site (NL) in addition to their expanded site in the US.
I’ve got a few recommendations to make!
Cannarado – great breeder, I’ve grown out 3 different strains from this breeder and all have been frosty and beautiful a little on the pricey side, but we’ll worth it in my experience.
Irvine Seed Co – seed bank that also does some breeding of their own, ISC has a free tester program where you can get 3 free regular seeds of an F1 cross they’re working on. The tester strains change up regularly. They also have a wide selection of regular seeds for $3 apiece and fems for $4 apiece.
Seed Queen Seeds – more of a hobbyist breeder, I initially bought from SQS because they were cheap and had a strain I was interested in (green crack). Every pack from SQS is $35 US and comes with a random 3 pack of seeds. They really hook up the freebies and everything I’ve grown out has been really nice.
Been in the UK I always look out for discreet shipping it’s a must, seedsman alibongo and the vault have been awsome so far with both discretion and quick shipping 👍🏻
I heard that interview as well on a podcast, yeah very knowledgeable indeed it’s amazing what they can do know on that note I remember listening somewhere that the powers that be are very close to getting edible crops that don’t need any sunlight and can grow in the dark , that would be a game changer especially on the weed front
@noodlebowl I watched an interview with SabastianGo, the front man for Fastbuds420. Very interesting and knowledgeable guy regarding all things cannabis, but autos in particular. It’s pretty clear, at least to me, that Autos are still being developed and improved and it won’t be long, relatively speaking, before they are 100% on par with Regs and Fems in respect to quality and quantity of the end product. The thing we are all looking for, good bud and lots of it!
I stumbled across fast buds 420 and tried some of there autos this year, so far so good got gorilla cookies on the go with about 4 weeks left to go and I must say I am impressed 👍
I miss bubblehok
Are all seed packs dated so you know when it is a legitimate sale or just getting rid of old stock? Is that an advantage of buying from a seed bank vs. a grow store where legal? (Plus, the seed bank will store in proper conditions, but seed packs sitting on a shelf may degrade over time.)
I buy my fem seeds in Canada from the Crop King, they have a great catalog. They also throw in sample seeds. I have been using them since 2016.
Excellent idea…
My last two orders were from Zamnesia and Barney’s Farm. They were both running a decent sale last week for the strains I wanted. It’s best to subscribe to all the seed site’s emails, and pay attention to their marketing for a few months before buying. Some site’s are asking ridiculously high prices.
Great list of Seed Banks and Breeders. I’m currently growing 4 strains that I got from The Vault. Highly recommend them. I’d also add MSNL as a seed bank. I bought from them on my first grow last year and both strains did very well.
I would like to see Zamnesia Seeds as recommended supplier. I’ve had very good luck with this seed bank and can recommend them without hesitation. Quick shipping, discrete packaging, decent prices (relatively speaking). Can’t speak to their customer service because I haven’t had to use it.
Ali Bongo are good for UK orders if you want a variety of strains from different breeders. there Bongo Bulk seem to be doing well too.
Fixed this post up a bit too 🙂 Enjoy
@morgasmo not that I’m aware of but we do have discounts from Ali Bongo seeds
Does Percy’s have a discount code for Seedsman or does anyone have a discount code for November 2023? I need beans lol 🤟😎
I use the vault n ive never had a bad seed from them i gotta be fair n prices r great n quick delivery aswell
@bubblehok thanks, that’s real handy to know
@backblast I’m not certain about state laws with respect to seeds but the Post Office is governed by the Federal Government so they won’t be stopping any seed shipments. Im not familiar with laws in all 50 states but the state would need a search warrant to open up your mail and I seriously doubt the courts would be granting mass warrants to search packages. I live in a prohibition state and have never had any problems getting seeds. This just gives me more assurance that I can order anytime without fear of retribution.
If I ever get hassled about seeds I’ll say they are hemp and if they want to find out differently then they will need to grow them 😉
@monkeydo great news! Makes it easier for you guys at least to move seeds around withoit as much stress.
@monkeydo does that supersede state laws I’ve heard some states in the past have made seeds illegal.
@stonewolf some I have addressed to myself, others to different names or my forum handle, but never to my house, I order them addressed to my work. The boss doesn’t mind so it’s all sweet. But I would recommend sending them to a safe address that doesn’t tie back to you if you can. I would still order stealth shipping, just to make sure they get through customs.
I thought it might be a good place to remind the US growers that the DEA recently re-classified cannabis seeds as hemp so your seed shipments should be safe now. I’ve never had any issues but this should mean that nobody will have issues with seeds in the US, at least small growers like us won’t.
That’s epic! Thanks @bubblehok. Do you use your correct name and address for these packages or do you use a friends/other address. Or code name 😎 ?
@stonewolf alibongo seeds or Weed seeds express will get your beans through customs. I have had multiple shipments from them and everything landed without issue. And I’m in NSW so if theu were going to get picked up they would have by now.
Usually theu get here within 2 weeks and as a Percy member both have discount codes you can use 🙂
Thanks for the list
Where do all the Aussies go for their seeds? To my understanding, our customs are strict and tight with letting seeds in.
Cheers
Niiice, always handy to know man ?
New post, beter to view it on the front end for all the fancy bits, it doesn’t seem to cross over well with the code 🙁 I need more time to figure that out lol
